Rolling Stone’s Steve Knopper on Fresh Air. Really great overview of the downfall of the industry. While ultimately the internet is to blame for what eventually happened, its worth noting that the major labels were also arrogant, stupid, and had a pathetic lack of foresight.

The new Phoenix record will either be top 5 of 2009 or a huge disappointment (to me). It’s Never Been Like That is one of my favorite records. I doubt they’ll surpass it but I’m excited to see (hear?) them try.
